The Support for Children Program
Making Families Stronger

This program works in collaboration with the 18th District Family Law Department. The goal of the program is to assist the non-custodial parent in providing financial and emotional support for their children. The key in obtaining this goal is to provide assessments that identify barriers that have prevented parents from complying with child support orders. The program attempts to remove those barriers by assisting the client with employment, education, drug/alcohol treatment, emotional/psychological issues, and visitation problems. These positive life changes are effected through parent education classes and one-on-one counseling. In 2005, the average census of 388 clients paid over $522,575.00 in child support.
