FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCING
Core Components:
 |
One-time
fact-to-face meeting where offender(s)*, victim(s), their families and
other supportive individuals and community members affected by the
crime come together in the same location
to share their stories of
what happened and how the offense
has affected each of them. |
| This meeting is coordinated by a trained
facilitator utilizing principles based on the Balanced and
Restorative Justice Model. |

An
opportunity for the offender to make amends for the harm caused.

 |
All
participants work toward a common goal - a written agreement on how to
repair the harm and prevent the offender from repeating harmful behavior.
|
 |
Identify who
will support / assist the offender with fulfilling the agreement. |
Training
Provided
*all referrals
to Episcopal Social Services are received from the Office of the District
Attorney - Juvenile Diversion.
Cases involve various diversion-eligible offenses by first-time juvenile
offenders.
