Federal law requires some people receiving Social Security benefits and
unable to handle their own finances, to have a responsible person manage their
finances. ESS can become payee of record and handle the management of
funds on a weekly basis. Representative Payee Volunteers make certain that the beneficiary’s
day-to-day needs for food and shelter as well as their personal needs are met.
At some time, ESS may give emergency-financial assistance for food,
utilities, or unforeseen expenses to beneficiary's in the program.
The program also provides social support and a sense of community to
populations who are marginalized by our society.
ESS Representative Payee program is the largest in the
State of Kansas... and there is no charge to the client for ESS services. This program has satellite
offices in Winfield, and Arkansas City.
