Venture House helps job seekers search, find, and maintain meaningful, long-term employment.

People who are experiencing the strain brought on by unemployment are more capable of finding and keeping a valuable job when they have assistance from Venture House. We serve those who have been referred to us by the Kansas Department of Children & Families (DCF). Our clients are those who are receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or are needing Vocational Rehabilitation.

Being prepared for employment is crucial to keeping one's employment.  Therefore, Venture House works with each individual client to assess their job readiness and find the proper fit for their skills and interests.  We teach preparedness, life skills, job search tools and assertiveness.  Volunteers provide meaningful insight into the process of interviewing, dynamics of employee/supervisor communications, and math skills.   Employment search tools we use include: action plans resume writing, job market navigation, clothing referrals, interview preparation and skills assessments. Even after our clients find employment, we follow their progress for at least 1 year to ensure continued success.

We are proud to partner with DCF to offer a location for their GOALS (Generating Opportunities to Attain Lifelong Success) program. GOALS is for people living in Kansas and currently receiving food assistance through the SNAP program, who need training and support to find a job. Our program coordinator is Leonor Loughridge. If you have any questions about our program, or think you are eligible for our services. Please contact her here.
